Here we go...

So...I've thought long and hard about this blog thing--and I guess I'm going for it. I debated between the mass-email route and the blog--but, I figured, this way, I'll be leaving it up to everyone else. They can check in if they're interested. I've also been thinking about the concept of a "blog" and, yes, I'll admit, it does seem slightly silly. When I asked another friend whose going abroad about blogging, they brought up a good point: journals are supposed to be personal--so, why would you post one online? Well, I feel this is very true. So, to everyone reading this: I probably won't be posting my deepest, juiciest secrets or anything like that--sorry. I just don't think the internet is the best place. Plus, there is something to be said about writing for yourself with good old fashioned paper and pen. I don't want to be a contributer to the extinction of the journal!

Anyway, as many of you know, I like to tell stories. I did decide that blogging would be the perfect way to share my stories. While in Malta, I know there will be an abundance of stories to share--but what would I do without people to share them with?! I just don't think I could bottle-up all of my abroad experiences until I came home and saw everyone again. I would explode!...quite sure. Excessive story-bottling can be quite dangerous.

So, this was my whole blog-thought process and my final intention for starting one. As you might have gathered, I am not in Malta yet--but am headed there at the end of this month for a semester with seven other students from Luther College and seven from Concordia College. I thought, if I got a running-start on this blog while I'm feeling motivated, it would be easier to keep it up during the trip. I may pop in and out throughout the remains of December and through January--and probably not just to talk about the trip and how nervous I am or anything like that...although, there might be some of that too. Like I said, I just like to tell stories--so, for now (or for the next 5 months), this will be my story.

Have a seat! Welcome to story-time.
